Arctic monkeys- Teddy Picker - music video analysis

Shot type and movement:  Movement of the camera is swift and aggressive, which matches the style of the music.  Shot type mainly focuses on lead member, ECU.  Small studio- long shots are cannot be achieved in the confined space.

 This close up shows the band members suggesting that this is a performance music video.  The instruments are also shown implying that this video is of the rock/pop genre.  Lighting and shot type is simple, possibly a hand held camera.  Purely about the music, not the effects.  
 

Music/Lyrics:  No lyrics at this point, random dialogue.

Edit & angles:  Cuts are very quick, no more than a few seconds.  In keeping with the style of music.  Aggressive.  Represents a stereotypical view on the younger generation.  Many different angles used, achieved by use of hand-held camera most likely.  Again, typical of the age group that the video is aimed at.  The band leader is given more importance- he is often viewed from a low angle, whilst other members, from a high angle, giving the leader more power than the others.  The quick cuts and wide range of angles combined is again, stereotypical of the age, a bit mad and energetic.  Mise-en-scene:  Analysis file:///Users/jpurkis/Desktop/Picture%202.png Clothes worn are smart/casual, stereotypical of the younger generation- reflects attitude of them and their music.  Also linked with the set and video, no fuss, no fancy special effects, the video is purely about the music.  No make-up, character’s because there isn’t a storyline.  Just the band performing.  Lead singer/band member usually the main focus in frames.

	Dialogue for the first thirty seconds of the video as they prepare for a recording session.  Laid-back attitude backs a stereotypical view of the younger generation.  Instruments used are also representational of the age group of which this video is aimed at- 16-30 year olds.
